Description
Ancient city walls were primarily constructed for defense, and when cities were attacked loopholes were vital in warfare. This photograph was taken of the old wall in Jerusalem built hundreds of years ago, and the loophole is right in the center of the photograph. Meriam- Webster define it as a : a small opening through which small arms may be fired b :a similar opening to admit light and air or to permit observation. Of course most of us are acquainted with the #2 definition: a means of escape; especially an ambiguity or omission in the text through which the intent of a statute, contract, or obligation may be evaded.
Interesting, because as I read #2 definition I can see that the photograph expresses this description as well. " A picture paints a thousand words,"
