Description
This bird did indeed get away, however, I watched as the alligator slowly attempted to come from behind. This photo was captured at St. Augustine's Alligator Farm during the nesting period when hundreds of wading birds mate, build nests, and birth their young. The alligators and birds coexist in a balanced envirnoment as the alligators keep away those critters who would be able to access the trees and harm or kill the baby birds or eggs.Of course when an egg or young bird falls into the waters that contain hundreds of alligators the egg or baby is eaten within seconds.
