Description
These beautiful artistic doors are a part of the Church of Saint Peter in Gallicantu which is a Roman Catholic church located on the eastern slope of Mount Zion, just outside the Old (walled) City of Jerusalem. Gallicantu is a Latin word that means cock's-crow. The Church commemorates Peter's triple denial of Jesus "before the cock crows twice." (Mark 14:30) Engraved art work on the door says “I tell you, Peter, before the rooster crows today, you will deny three times that you know me.” (Luke 22:34) Jesus, on the left is wearing a blue robe and Peter, on the right is dressed with a red outer robe. While this image and the church commemorates Peter's denial of Jesus, the good news is that Peter repents of his sin, and is restored to the ministry, and to his relationship with Jesus. A wonderful story of redemption that is available to anyone today who would turn away from their sin and follow The Savior!
