Description
Calabash is known as " The Seafood Capital of the World " or at least that's how the locals refer to the small fishing town just inside of North Carolina. This is the place where " Calabash Style " cooking originated. Tourists from North and South Carolina come to taste the cuisine that the many seafood restaurants offer, and one does not usually leave disappointed. At the southern part of town one can view the tidal Calabash River as it flows southwest to the Little River in South Carolina, 3 miles (5 km) upstream from that river's mouth at Little River Inlet on the Atlantic Ocean. This photograph was captured right outside of Captain Nance's Seafood Restaurant which sits on the Calabash River. It was a stormy day, but the food was worth the extra miles of travel from North Myrtle Beach.
