Description
When I visited the Cross in the Woods I was speechless as I looked up at the gigantic crucifix. It is very impressive and in many ways so realistic. This photograph of that crucifix has added text " It is finished" which were among the final words of The Lord Jesus. He then said, " Into Thy Hands I commit my spirit. " I am so thankful for His blood atonement for my sin!
Found the following article online!
" In the Greek " It is finished" is just one word: tetelestai, which can mean "it is finished", "it is completed", "it is accomplished", or "it is fulfilled". "One thing it does not mean is "I'm done for". Tetelestai is not a sigh of resignation. It is a declaration of victory. In spite of appearances, in spite of the tortured body we see on the cross, Jesus has accomplished everything He came to earth to do. He has accomplished the salvation of humanity, and His death will open the door for us to eternal life. In ancient Israel tetelestai was also a business term meaning "paid in full". Writing tetelestai at the bottom of a bill would be the same thing as stamping a "Paid" stamp in our day. Jesus paid the price for our sins, and the debt has been paid in full. It is over,It is finished,Our sins are done away with, and we are free and forgiven."

It was a rainy and cloudy day when I visited The Cross on The Woods. I made the decision to tint the clouds red which is symbolic, but it also adds a great contrast in the photo. Scripture states "It was now about the sixth hour, and darkness fell over the whole land until the ninth hour, because the sun was obscured.....(Luke 23:44). I thought about this scripture as I looked at the crucifix against the stormy like sky, and I thought about it as I provided finishing touches (red tint ) before posting....and I think about it as I look at it now!
The Cross in the Woods is a Catholic shrine located at 7078 M-68 in Indian River, Michigan. It was declared a national shrine by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) on September 15, 2006. With the largest crucifix in the world (31 feet high for the statue),[1] it has become one of the most famous and most frequently visited shrines in Michigan. The highlight of the shrine is a large wooden cross and bronze figure of Christ by sculptor Marshall Fredericks. The site also includes outdoor and indoor churches, numerous smaller shrines, and a nun doll museum. The Cross in the Woods is open 365 days a year and the Church built at this location holds Masses every day, year round. Each year between 275,000 and 325,000 people come to visit the Cross in the Woods Shrine.[2] Source: Wikipedia
