Artist's Description
A journey to the Waccatee Zoo near Myrtle Beach, SC brought a surprise as I walked across a bridge and landed in a beautifully wooded cove with a number of egrets flying around and hanging out in the trees. The shade of the trees brought coolness to the morning, and the birds seemed to just be playing around and enjoying life. This egret has decided to hang out close to the water while his buddies are up in the trees. I enjoy the water reflections in this photograph and decided to use a vignette effect to help the viewer zone in on the egret, foliage and reflections. Also, a filter was used to give the image a painterly effect. The Waccatee Zoo is located where the Waccamaw River, Intracoastal Waterway and Socastee Creek join.
About Lydia Holly
I have enjoyed taking photos since I was a little girl, but especially began learning about the skill and art of photography in college; however, as years went by I, like most of us, put the camera in the drawer and would pull it out only for special occasions. For the most part, photography has been a passion that I put on the shelf; but now I have the opportunity to share with others some of my favorite photos, while exploring creative and new styles in photography and digital art. I enjoy taking photos of just about anything...animals, nature, vistas, people, architecture, and landscapes. I love it all! I am in awe of God's creation and ever so thankful that I have the opportunity to reflect a piece of it through a photograph. I hope...
