Description
This textured photograph depicts a bumblebee obtaining nectar from a flower. Nectar is the saccharine secretion of a plant that attracts the insects or birds that pollinate the flower. There are some 250 different kinds of bumblebees and they are important agricultural pollinators. Their decline in Europe, North America, and Asia has been caused by habitat loss, the mechanisation of agriculture, and pesticides.
