It is Spring and this snowy egret is participating in mating season at the Alligator Farm's rookery in St. Augustine, Florida. Native herons, egrets, ibis, spoonbills and wood storks come to this area as they seek the security of the Alligator Swamp to roost and raise their young. Even though hundreds of alligators swim beneath the oak branches, the birds at least know their young are safe from tree-climbing predators.Of course if an egg or baby chick falls into the water they are quickly eaten by a Florida gator.The wooden walkway allows for amazing intimate views of Florida's magnificent wading birds on their nests, or flying overhead to bring branches to build them. Photographers achieve award-winning shots here every year. Birds in full breeding plumage can be viewed from April through July!

I have enjoyed taking photos since I was a little girl, but especially began learning about the skill and art of photography in college; however, as years went by I, like most of us, put the camera in the drawer and would pull it out only for special occasions. For the most part, photography has been a passion that I put on the shelf; but now I have the opportunity to share with others some of my favorite photos,while exploring creative and new styles in photography and digital art. I enjoy taking photos of just about anything...animals, nature, vistas, people, architecture, and landscapes. I love it all!
