Description
This is one of several photographs captured during a late light snow ( a week before Spring ) in Fort Mill, SC. It is very uncharacteristic of this area to experience snow at this time of year. By the time I took this photo the snow on this peach orchard had almost melted. I like this image because of the clouds that almost look like they are moving if you look at them long enough. The Palmetto State actually grows more peaches than Georgia,The Peach State. It ranks second in peach production in the United States, with California being the top producer. The peach became South Carolina's official state fruit in 1984. The state grows over 30 different kinds of peaches and has been producing peaches commercially since the 1860s. The peach industry is indeed an important part of the state's overall agricultural production. The peach is indigenous to Northwest China and peach blossoms are highly valued in Chinese culture. They look very much like cherry, plum, and apricot blossoms. Thankfully the snow melted very quickly! Hope you enjoy " Peach Orchard Between Seasons".
