Artist's Description
This photograph of the Dead Sea was taken from The Kalia Beach Restaurant. This is the northern section of the Dead Sea and only about a 25 minute drive from Jerusalem, Israel. It is a beautiful area with a lot of visitors from Israel and tourists from all over the world. The Dead Sea is the lowest place on earth at approximately 1,000 feet below sea level and is one of the saltiest bodies of water in the world. It is actually a lake and it's main tributary is the Jordan River. However, as the Jordan River's water is diverted at greater levels and the lake's water is naturally absorbed its' water level is declining. The lowest place on earth attracts people from all over the world for the health benefits it affords and for the floating experience one gets when going into the water as you cannot sink in the Dead Sea because of the high salt content.
About Lydia Holly
I have enjoyed taking photos since I was a little girl, but especially began learning about the skill and art of photography in college; however, as years went by I, like most of us, put the camera in the drawer and would pull it out only for special occasions. For the most part, photography has been a passion that I put on the shelf; but now I have the opportunity to share with others some of my favorite photos, while exploring creative and new styles in photography and digital art. I enjoy taking photos of just about anything...animals, nature, vistas, people, architecture, and landscapes. I love it all! I am in awe of God's creation and ever so thankful that I have the opportunity to reflect a piece of it through a photograph. I hope...
