Description
This photograph was taken in late Autumn. This beautiful section of Steele Creek is situated at Anne Springs Close Greenway in Fort Mill, SC. Very near this scene is a 125 foot suspension bridge which I have walked across a number of times. The Greenway is a 2100 acre nature preserve and offers hiking and biking trails, fishing, camping, and canoeing. Special events are held on the grounds year round and tours are given throughout the year. Historical sites have been preserved to include two log cabins, a grist mill (replica ) and a dairy barn. The Greenway is also equipped with a nature center for nature enthusiasts. Horses, sheep, cattle and donkeys are a part of the landscape. One particular aspect that I think is really unique is the remains of the historically significant trail called Nation Ford Road. "The road was part of the Great Philadelphia Wagon Road, which stretched from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Augusta, Georgia and was the first major road on the Eastern Seaboard of the United States of America. For hundreds of years, the path was an important conduit for trade, war and settlement. " http://www.ascgreenway.org/activities/nature-history-walks
