Description
This photograph depicts a historical building in Savannah that was built in 1890 for Robert Kennedy, a harbor master. It was an operating pharmacy on the first floor for many years. Residential space is located on the second floor. I am not sure about the building's present use on the first floor. It was reportedly purchased by an anonymous buyer in 1999 in an effort to assist the Davenport House Museum. The location is 323 E. Broughton Street – directly behind the Davenport House Museum which is located at 324 E. State Street. In 2007 the building underwent renovations that was in keeping with the goal of becoming a income generating space for the Davenport House Museum which is owned by the Historic Savannah Foundation. I think that the tour horses add a special dimension to this lovely photograph. Source of information:http://www.davenporthousemuseum.org/kennedy-pharmacy/
