Description
This is a cool place to go back in time! Fishtown, is a historical section of Leeland, Michigan. It was a historical fishing village and remains so to this day. The Leland River flows through the heart of Fishtown. The river is about 4,000 feet in length, and it connects Lake Leelanau with Lake Michigan. I especially enjoyed watching the salmon attempting to swim upstream to spawn even though they were hindered by the waterfall over the dam. I saw two of them make it while I was there! Fishtown was was designated a Michigan State Historic Site in 1973 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.A great place to visit, walk along the docks and photograph.
