Description
Many years ago I took a waterfall excursion and Looking Glass Falls in Pisgah National Forest (North Carolina) was on the list. I had been there a number of times, but never had attempted walking over rocks in the creek to photograph. Though I was not steadiest person on my feet I was determined to get out into the water, but with that limited sense of balance I ended up landing in the creek before getting back to shore! Thus, the reason I titled this "Falling at Falls." I have added several textures to the photograph to give it a painterly effect. Looking Glass Falls is one of the most popular and beautiful waterfalls in North Carolina. "Looking Glass" comes from Looking Glass Rock, where water freezes on its sides in the winter and then glistens in the sunlight like a mirror or looking glass. This 60 foot waterfall is easily accessible and can be viewed from the road, or to take a closer look you can take a short hike down to the creek's edge but, be careful! Don't slip like I did!
