Description
Les outrages chez Caiphe means The outrages at Caiaphas' house. This beautiful mosaic can be seen as one approaches The Church of Saint Peter in Gallicantu in Jerusalem, Israel. The church is a Roman Catholic Church and is located on the eastern slope of Mount Zion, just outside the Old City of Jerusalem and the Zion Gate. The location has historical importance in that tradition says it to be the exact spot in which the High Priest Caiaphas' palace once stood. There are some archeological findings to support this view. The name Gallicantu is a Latin word, meaning 'the cock's crow'. The church was dedicated to commemorate Peter's denial of Jesus Christ.
