Description
This photograph was taken at Shedd Aquarium in Chicago. The yellow and white striped garden eels seem to be a part of the undersea plant life as they burrow themselves in and show only their heads and the top part of their bodies Thus, the name " garden eels. " The majority of garden eels live in the Indo-Pacific, but species are also found in warmer parts of the Atlantic Ocean and East Pacific. "They vary greatly in color depending on the exact species involved. The largest species reaches about 120 cm in length, but most species do not surpass 60 cm"( Source: Wikipedia ). See how they just fit into the design of the aquarium! They do tend to live in groups and the males can become violent toward other males when threatened during mating time.
