Description
Where I live peach blossoms, cherry blossoms, and Bradford pear trees are abundant in Spring. I took this photograph in a peach orchard in Fort Mill, South Carolina. South Carolina, The Palmetto State, actually grows more peaches than Georgia,The Peach State. It ranks second in peach production in the United States, with California being the top producer. The peach became South Carolina's official state fruit in 1984. The state grows over 30 different kinds of peaches and has been producing peaches commercially since the 1860s. The peach industry is indeed an important part of the state's overall agricultural production. The peach is indigenous to Northwest China and peach blossoms are highly valued in Chinese culture. They look very much like cherry, plum, and apricot blossoms.
